According to a review by the Webby award-winning tech media website CNET, Sony carefully considered customer reviews of previous systems when designing the PS4. It still provides favorite features, like Internet video streaming and DVD playback with a faster processor, but has an improved controller. Sony’s PS4 features make it a gaming powerhouse designed to provide years of entertainment. It has Wi-Fi capability and lets customers perform background downloads, and charge controllers when the system is in standby mode.

The PS4 is already able to emulate PS2 games and we here so quiet. The company has confirmed in Wired that it is working on emulation technology that allows it to bring PS2 games to PS4, but did not want to give more details.

How PlayStation 2 emulation works on PlayStation 4
PS2 emulator for PlayStation 4 is now available, published without any fanfare within the bundle of Star Wars that includes four “classics” of the well-known franchise: Super Star Wars, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, Star Wars: Racer Revenge and Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. All four come in a single PSN code, instead of the physical disk that includes the hardware. The points to emphasize on the first analyzes carried out by Digital Foundry with the first games of PS2 emulated in PS4 are these:

The arrival of an emulator of these characteristics to PS4 is something quite fat and I ask again why there are already three games that make use of this system, even if it is not the definitive one, and Sony has not made any kind of advertisement in large . How can we say it? The overall impression is positive. There are few things that can be done to improve the quality of 2D resources, but improvements in 3D elements are more than welcome. It seems that a post-processing effect is applied to mimic the anti-aliasing, because the edges are surprisingly smooth and there are no flickers either. Oh, and there is also another interesting addition: the emulator includes trophies, something we can confirm by having unlocked several in Racer Revenge. A priori this would rule out the emulation (the trophies were not in the original games), but this patent explains how it is achieved. The remaining doubt is that of performance. We have a substantial improvement in image quality, but do games work as they should or can they even better? It is too early to say one thing or another. Obviously these are not the best games to test the emulator and others could render totally different, but imagine Metal Gear Solid 3 with a higher frame rate, the God of War with stable frame-rate or Gran Turismo 4 Without tearing. We have a lot of desire to see what this emulator is capable of.
The arrival of PS2 emulation on PlayStation 4 is important.
