How to find iPhone IMEI or MEID number

Finding your iPhone IMEI or MEID can be cumbersome if you’re not familiar with how to do it. Learn how to find iPhone IMEI or MEID number and get the information needed to unlock a phone or sell it on eBay.

There could be a few reasons you want to know the IMEI or MEID. The first is that you might need to unlock an iPhone for use with another carrier. The second reason is that you might need to check if the device has been blacklisted after it’s been reported stolen (and yes, it does happen). To find the IMEI or MEID number you need to go into your iPhone Settings menu. I’ll show you exactly how to get there and find IMEI or MEID number  below.

IMEI Number

IMEI stands for ‘INTERNATIONAL MOBILE STATION EQUIPMENT IDENTITY ‘is usually a 15-16 digit number. IMEI is a unique number used to identify GSM, UMTS and LTE and other satellite mobile phones . You can find your Mobile phone IMEI number under the battery of your device (Apple iPhone, Samsung phones, android phone, Nokia mobile devices all have IMEI numbers.) There are many other ways to find out the phone’s IMEI number.

Uses of IMEI or MEID number:

The main use of IMEI number is that it is used by GSM networks to identify the real owner of the device. It is used to stop the network access of stolen phone. For example if a phone (it Can be iPhone, iPhone 6 or 6 plus, android phone or windows phone) is stolen than the owner of the device can tell the network provider to blacklist or block the services of the phone.

In order to identify the Apple devices , they carry a series of numbers cataloged by the following acronyms and that below I indicate to you what they mean each one of them:

– IMEI : International identity of mobile equipment.

– MEID: Identifier of mobile equipment.

– CDN: Number of mobile data.

– ICCID : Card identifier with integrated circuit (only for IOS devices with mobile data connectivity).

Well, this I do not know by heart, I have read it looking for internet and I put it for your information. 

Get the information using your device:

Tap  Settings> General> Information  to view the serial number, IMEI, and ICCID. So much for the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch .

If, for whatever reason, you can not access the Device Information screen , do the following to see the serial number and IMEI of your device.

Get the information on your iPhone or iPad

Your IMEI is engraved on the back housing , near the bottom. The MEID number uses the first 14 digits and ignores the last digit.

IMEID on the iPhone or iPad case

The serial number of the iPad and iPod Touch are engraved on the back case, near the bottom, in the same way as on the iPhone . The MEID and IMEI numbers are also recorded on the back of the iPad (Wi-Fi + 3G), iPad 2 (Wi-Fi + 3G) and iPad (Wi-Fi + Phone).

Get the information on an iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 (GSM model) and iPhone 4S

Extract the tray from the SIM card . The serial number and IMEI are printed on the SIM tray .

Get the information through the device box.

If you still have the original device box, you can find the  serial number and IMEI printed on the  barcode label that is attached to the device.

How to Find the IMEI  number or MEID number  and other information of your iPhone

Steps
1.      By Dialling the IMEI or USSD Code2.     You can also find  your iPhone IMEI or MEID number on the back of your device near the bottom.
3.     Check the sim tray of your iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, 4s, 5, 5s, 6, 6 Plus.4.     Open the settings and in about phone tab.
5.     Find the IMEI or MEID number of your iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, 4s, 5, 5s, 6, 6 Plus using iTunes.6.     If you still have the original packaging, find your apple device IMEI or MEID number on the barcode label.

How to Find the IMEI  number or MEID number  

  1. By dialling USSD (*#006#) code: By dialling USSD code or IMEI code on any mobile device (android best apps, iPhone, Blackberry, Nokia or HTC) you can find IMEI code for your any mobile device. After dialling this code you don’t have to press any call buttons it automatically shows you the IMEI or MEID code of the device.

  • At the back of apple iPhone or iPad devices: All the apple devices iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, 4s, 5, 5s, 6, 6 Plus, iPad and iPod touch have the IMEI or MEID number engraved on the back of the phone near the bottom. Also, if you have an iPad cellular version you can also see the IMEI number of that iPad on the back side of the iPad.

  • By checking the sim card tray of iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, and 4s: If you are using the older iPhones then you can find out the IMEI number or MEID number by removing the sim-card tray of your iPhone. You will see the IMEI number, MEID number (to find MEID ignore the last number, because MEID is 14 digit number and IMEI is 15 digit number). Serial number is also engraved on to the sim card tray.

  • By going in to Apple iPhone device settings: You can find IMEI number, MEID number, ICCID and Serial numbers by opening your apple iPhone or iPad device settings. All the apple devices iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, 4s, 5, 5s, 5c, 6, 6 Plus, iPad and iPod touch have IMEI number displayed in device settings. First Go to Settings>General>About tab to see your device’s IMEI number, MEID number, ICCID and Serial numbers.   • Finding iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, 4s, 5, 5c, 5s, 6, 6 plus IMEI number using iTunes: Firstly, you have to connect your apple device to you Windows PC or apple MacBook and have to open iTunes. Secondly, locate your device and select your iPhone device from the device menu which is in upper right corner and then click summary Summary tab will show you all the information of your device. If you want to copy the IMEI and serial number go to > edit and copy serial number that’s it.
  • Finding iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, 4s, 5, 5c, 5s, 6, 6 plus IMEI number on original packaging: You can also find the IMEI number, MEID number, ICCID and Serial numbers of your apple devices, if you still have the apple device original packaging, find it on the printed barcode label.
  • In iTunes without device. If you can use iTunes on your computer, but you do not have the device in hand, do the following: Go to “iTunes> Preferences” (Mac) or “Edit> Preferences” (PC). Click on the “Devices” tab. Hover the mouse cursor over the backup so that the gadget’s serial number appears.

    In the Phone application. To quickly see the IMEI number on the iPhone, you can also use the * # 06 # (asterisk, pad, zero, six, pad), which you have to dial in the Phone application.

    IOS device. To search for IMEI, repeat the same steps to search for the serial number.

    In iTunes with connected device. You can also find other information on the connected device, using iTunes. With iPhone connected, click on “Phone Number” to see IMEI / MEID and ICCID. With the iPad (Cellular model) connected, click on “Serial Number” to see CDN, IMEI / MEID and ICCID.

    In iTunes without device. If you can use iTunes on your computer, but you do not have the device in hand, do the following: Go to “iTunes> Preferences” (Mac) or “Edit> Preferences” (PC). Click on the “Devices” tab. Hover the mouse cursor over the backup so that the gadget’s serial number appears. In this mode the IMEI / MEID and CDN numbers of the iPhone or the iPad (Cellphone model) are also available.

  • Android phones with removable batteries: Android mobile devices which have removable batteries (Samsung galaxy, HTC, Asus, Nexus), you can find IMEI and MEID number by removing phone’s battery. IMEI number is written on the back of the device battery.
  • By opening Android phone settings: On android phones (Samsung galaxy, HTC, Asus, Nexus), GOTO > Settings > ABOUT > IMEI to see the IMEI number of your android device.
