Sometimes you need to copy and paste a chunk of text from a webpage, and your mouse is just not precise enough to grab the exact lines you want (especially if you happen to be using a touchpad). There’s a built-in solution in Microsoft Edge: Caret browsing.
Caret navigation is a kind of keyboard navigation where a caret (also known as a ‘text cursor’, ‘text insertion cursor’, or ‘text selection cursor’) is used to navigate within a text document.
Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox both support Caret browsing, but caret browsing or caret navigation is not supported by Google Chrome.
But if you want to use caret Browsing or Caret navigation in Google chrome you can do it by using this plugin called Caret Plugin from chrome store. Some features of this plugin are:
- Press F7 to turn on Caret Browsing. Press it again to turn it off.
- Use arrow keys to move throughout the document.
- Click anywhere to move the cursor to that location.
- Press Shift + arrows to select text.
- Hold down Option to move by word. When you reach a link or control, it is automatically focused. Press Enter to click a link or button. When a focused control (like a text box or a list box) is capturing arrow keys, press Esc followed by the left or right arrow to continue Caret Browsing.
Caret navigation is a feature that lets you navigate webpages with your keyboard, similar to how you navigate through a Word document.
